Due to its Labyrinth of Roadways and High Population, Now a Full-Time Court

As the City of Roswell quadrupled in population over the last 30 years, the Municipal Court of Roswell has become one of only a handful of full-time Municipal Courts in Georgia. Judge Hilliard is assisted by several part-time judges who act as the Roswell Municipal Court Judge if Judge Hilliard is absent or away on court or personal business. The volume of cases in Roswell (over 1000 monthly) requires daily processing of files by a staff of over 30 employees. In addition to “bench” (non-jury) trials, the processing of these cases includes signing bench warrants, calling daily calendars, setting bond amounts, appointment of counsel for indigents, handling probation revocations, conducting “first Court appearances” for persons who are in custody and who must be promptly advised of the misdemeanor charges pending against him or her.

All DUI and Traffic Ticket Cases are Handled in the Second Floor Courtroom

Being on time for Court will benefit you. Judge Hilliard often requires tardy arrivals to wait until all on-time court attendees have been handled. Be on time, or expect to spend a great deal of time in this Court. See this punishment chart for minimum penalties on any first offense, second offense, third offense or fourth (or more) DUI charges.
